Thanking The Academy...

In less than 24 hours, I will have most likely lost one of my prized possesions, my WWE Fantasy Championship belt.

The worst part is that I won't know until long into the evening, since Wrestlemania falls on the same night as my other gig as play-by-play man for the Dallas Derby Devils. [7pm, Arlington Skatium, $12 at the door, show up early, sellout anticipated]

Less than thirty points separate me from first-place Richard 'Big Dick' Hunter.

Sadly, my downfall was not the result of a tactical decision. Instead, I made the unforgivable mistake of drafting a wrestler who was injured and not scheduled to be on TV.

Gregory Helms[the former Hurricane] had broken his nose in early March. Until that time, he was a smart pick given his relatively low cost and the fact that he was [and still is] the WWE Cruiserweight Champion. In my rush to make my picks for Week 9, I drafted him.

Finally, here's the card for Wrestlemania 22: Smackdown! in blue, RAW in red...

And for the record I was trying to give you an update with a Chubbs flare to it. Nothing more and nothing less, but it was fun to watch Richard during the Triple Threat.

Ironically, the same posthumous legacy of Eddie Guererro that cost me the title last season was the very thing that put the strap on Rey Mysterio and the other strap on me. My grandmother would say that "He works in mysterious ways". By the time Triple H tapped out, I was Steve Spurier in a visor, running up that score, damn near cracking the national 500. Come after the title next season if you dare.
